The fourth event of the season, Georgia Pro, is confirmed for February 22, with a venue change prioritizing safety and competition quality.
Competition confirmed for Saturday, February 22
Kakhiani face deemed unsuitable after safety assessment; competition moved to Kaseb, a safer and more suitable venue
Dropping order: Snowboard Men, Snowboard Women, Ski Women, Ski Men
MESTIA, Georgia – February 21, 2025: The FIS Freeride World Tour by Peak Performance has confirmed that the Georgia Pro will take place on Saturday, February 22 as the forecast remains uncertain for the following days. However, after a thorough assessment by the FWT Commissioner and team of mountain guides, it has been determined that the Kakhiani face is not suitable due to safety concerns.
As a result, the competition will now take place on Kaseb, a South-West facing face that offers a safer and more suitable venue. This decision was made to prioritize rider safety while ensuring a high-quality competition, with the event now scheduled to take place in the afternoon, with the live broadcast starting at 2:00 PM Local Time (GET) / 11:00 AM CET and the first rider dropping at 2:15 PM Local Time (GET) / 11:15 AM CET.
Kaseb: A High-Altitude, Feature-Packed Venue
Kaseb offers a steep and technical challenge, with a dense concentration of natural features that demand precision, creativity, and control from riders. At an altitude of 3,400m, it is the highest start elevation of the FWT season. The venue’s 375-meter vertical drop features an average steepness of 36 degrees, with sections reaching up to 42 degrees.
Unlike more open freeride faces, Kaseb is stacked with features, requiring riders to maintain flow while navigating cliffs, jumps, and steep terrain. With stacked features and minimal open skiing sections, the competition on Kaseb will be all about amplitude, creativity, and execution. Riders looking to make an impact will need to send big tricks and take advantage of the natural jumps to boost their scores.
For spectators, Kaseb offers an excellent viewing experience, as it is easily accessible from the top of the chairlift. Fans will have a prime viewing point to watch the world’s top freeriders take on this new and challenging venue.
